DANCE CLASSES AUCKLAND
Can I stay and watch my child in class?
Parents/caregivers are not permitted to watch the classes, as this distracts all the students in the class. However you are allowed to watch the first and last classes of the term to see your child’s progress. There are waiting rooms provided.
Can my child earn awards for different levels?
Yes, we host examinations and medal tests sessions twice a year. These are set by national and international associations. These assessments start from as early as 3 years old with a presentation. As your son/daughter gets older and higher up the grades these examinations can qualify them to teach dance and/or study in New Zealand and overseas.
My child loves performing, will there be opportunities to perform?
Yes of course! We produce a major stage production in September and a babyballet show every year at a professional theatre. The children also get to help choreograph their dances, design their costumes and have a say in other production ideas.
Can I join mid-term?
It is dependent on the class. Our major intake for the year is in February (beginning of Term 1) and at the beginning of each term. After this would mean missing material already covered in class, which could hinder your progression. However there are exceptions so please contact us for more details.
What clothes do I wear to the classes?
There is a set uniform for each dance style. These are designed keep the body free to move. Please do not come in tight trousers, short skirts/dresses or jeans as this will restrict your movement. Uniform items and dance shoes can be purchased direct from the dance school.
Can I pay per class?
No. Invoices are issued at the commencement of the first term, and the end of each term 1, 2 and 3. Fee are due two weeks after the issue date. We do not hold drop-in classes. If you miss a class for any reason we will not refund or credit any money. For adults classes this is pay as you go. We accept direct debit into our bank account.
What do you wear in class?
We have quality uniforms that have been custom-made for RSD students. This is available online at rsduniform.bigcartel.com.
If you are new taking a trial lesson however, you can simply wear comfy clothing that you can move in. Perhaps a pretty skirt if you have one?! Barefeet is fine for a trial class.
